Worship Time
Sundays at 9:00 am
Divine Service is held on Sundays at 9:00 am, immediately followed by fellowship with Sunday School for all ages from 10:45 to 11:45 am. We welcome children of all ages during worship, but if parents need childcare, we gladly provide it for infants to age four during the service.
Sunday services primarily follow the published liturgies of the Lutheran Service Book, the most recent hymnal published by The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.
Worship
What is the Divine Service?
We Lutherans love the term Divine Service to describe worship. While we often use Divine Service and worship interchangeably, we readily confess Divine Service best describes what happens during the worship service as God speaks His gracious Gospel that forgives sin and raises believers to new life in Jesus. Therefore, by the Gospel, we acknowledge God’s work for us in the Divine Service is infinitely greater than what we do in response to His grace. For all He does, we simply offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and praise.
What to Expect During the Divine Service
Our worship is liturgical. The church’s liturgy is Scripture set to music meant to be sung by the congregation. The liturgy is ancient and beautiful. It gives us God’s Word for our salvation and then prompts us to repeat back to Him the words He has given His church. We sing hymns from every age, which are written to open our ears and hearts to our greatest problems (sin and death), and these same hymns point us to God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who is our Savior.
What is Holy Communion?
Holy Communion is Christ’s Body and Blood joined to common bread and wine by which Christ sacramentally forgives and nourishes His people. It is a mystery, to be sure, but it is a blessed mystery for the life of all who’ve been instructed in its deep meaning and believe Christ’s literal Word: “This is my Body” and “This is my Blood.” Thus, we receive Christ’s Holy Communion for our forgiveness and spiritual health during every Divine Service.
